ArtFields was planted in 2013 with a simple goal: to honor the artists of the Southeast with nine days’ worth of celebration and competition in the heart of a small, agricultural Southern town, Lake City, SC! During ArtFields, the town becomes a living art gallery that celebrates the art and artists of the Southeast. With over $100,000 to be awarded, the competition is open to artists of all media who live within the 12 participating states. The event also includes a Jr. art competition for SC student artists, a portrait contest, a maker’s market, and many ways for artists and art lovers to participate.

In a mutual celebration of art and community, up to 400 artworks will be displayed in locally-owned venues, from renovated warehouses to professional art spaces to restaurants and boutiques. A jury of art professionals selects the Grand Prize of $50,000 and Second Place of $25,000. Two People’s Choice Award winners of $12,500 each are selected by ArtFields visitors.

ArtFields is the flagship event of the Lake City ArtFields Collective, a community art and culture organization that helps the arts thrive all year long in such spaces as Jones-Carter Gallery, Crossroads Gallery, and TRAX Visual Art Center.
